Members pay an annual subscription, with an option to pay in installments. For this, all the music in the current repertoire will be provided for you on loan. The choir performs in uniform, for which any concert tops and scarves required are provided for women and shirts and ties for men. All members are required to provide their own black trousers and men will need their own black dinner jacket. Sometimes there are short coach journeys to our concerts, and the subs will usually cover or subsidise these too. There are no weekly subs to pay.
Subscriptions become due on August 1st each year and work out at just over £1.50 a week. This can be paid in one amount, in two payments on August 1st and February 1st or in three instalments payable on August 1st, December 1st and April 1st. Payment can be made preferably by bank transfer, (details available from the Treasurer), by cheque (payable to KVU Singers) or by cash in a named envelope and handed to the Treasurer.
Members joining during the year are required to pay a subscription in proportion to the amount of time remaining in the choir’s financial year. Life Members of the Choir (50 years’ service) do not pay an annual subscription.
It is hoped that UK tax paying members would wish to sign a Gift Aid declaration for the benefit of the Choir. Present regulations do not allow tax to be reclaimed on the tuition element of the subscription. The Trustees have decided that of the £80 subscription fee £33 is for tuition received. The amount possible to claim against at present is £47.
If you have any ideas for fundraisers or social activities, or for possible venues for concerts, please feel free to speak to any member of the committee.
